The Last Will & Testament of Mary Isles (1825) of Brockhampton

8th Jan 1686.

This is the Last Will and Testament of me, Mary ISLES of Brockhampton, within the parish of Buckland Newton, widow, made this day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five as follows (that is to say)

First I give, devise and bequeath unto Thomas CAINES, late of Clinger but now residing in the Isle of Purbeck? Yeoman the sum of four hundred pounds in trust for the purposes hereinafter mentioned, that is to say in trust in the first place to put the said sum of four hundred pounds out at interest on Government or some -- freehold? security or securities in this --- -- and to receive the interest dividends or proceeds thereof and pay the same from time to time, to and for the use of my natural son John ELKINS, until the principal is -- as hereinafter mentioned in trust in the --- -- (if called upon within the space of five years next after my decease by my son Jeremiah ISLES or any child or children of the said Jeremiah ISLES, lawfully begotten) to pay over the said principal sum of four hundred pounds to him, the said Jeremiah ISLES or if he shall be dead, to pay the same to his children or child if more than one, in equal shares and proportions but in case --- the said aforesaid there upon trust to pay over the said sum of four hundred pounds unto my said natural son, John ELKINS, to and for his own use and benefit.

Also I give and bequeath unto my son Jeremiah ISLES the bed and furniture belonging to the same which I usually now sleep on, three blankets, two sheets, two bolster -- and one quilt and in case of it's not being -- by my said son Jeremiah ISLES or his children lawfully begotten for the space of five years after my decease, then I give the same to my said son, John ELKINS.

All the rest and residue of my monies and securities for money, goods, chattels, personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or -- I give and bequeath also to my said son John ELKINS, whom I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have to this my Last Will and Testament, set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.

Signed, sealed and published and ordered by the above named Mary ISLES the Testator as and for her Last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, who at her request, in her presence and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
