Corfe Castle & Purbeck

Dorset Administrations for the Parish of Corfe Castle (and Purbeck)

Transcribed and donated to the Dorset OPC Project by Louise Haywood and Kim Parker

The following list of DORSET ADMINISTRATIONS for Corfe Castle parish, with a few for Purbeck,
were taken from the Somerset & Dorset Notes & Queries Vols 1-6. They are grants to the estates
of Intestates (those who did not leave a Will) and were extracted by George S. Fry from the
records of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury then at Somerset House in 'The Administrative Act Book'.
The records begin in the year 1559 and Fry's transcriptions stopped at 1725. The years are written
in the old-style Julian calendar which changed in 1752.
