Parish of Marnhull

Account book of Rev. Conyers Place 1737-1762

MIC/R/1599

Marnhull is very fortunate in that the Rev. Conyers Place kept detailed accounts books for the period 1737-1762. These are preserved at the Dorchester Record Office and have been microfilmed. The handwriting is exceptionally neat. As well as accounts for all his income derived from land in various places, for most years he lists the amount of tythes received in Marnhull as well as incidental income. Two examples are transcribed below. Any researcher whose ancestors had land in Marnhull may well find further interesting information in this book.

"Tythes payable by the parishes of Marnhull being one years tythe and beginning at Lady Day 1737 & ending at Lady Day 1738"
