Extracts from the Church Wardens Accounts

"The
Minister, Churchwardens & Overseers of the Parish of Henstridge, mov'd by
the great Distress of the Poor at this inclement Season, thought it adviseable
to wait on the principal Inhabitants of the Parish for the purpose of raising a
Sum of Money, by way of voluntary Contribution, to be Distributed amongst the
honest & industrious Poor who endeavour to support themselves & Families
independently of the Parish aforesaid.”

the minister & officers should dispose of the said sum of £39-15-3d at two
