Transcription of the 1781 Removal Order of Henry Daw and his family to the Parish of Stratton.

To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Milton Abbas in the County of Dorset aforesaid; and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Stratton in the said County. Whereas Complaint hath been made unto us, two of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the said County of Dorset by you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Milton Abbas that Henry Daw Ann his wife Elizabeth aged about 17 years Joseph aged about 14 years, Ann aged about 10 years Mary aged about 8 years, Robert aged abt seven years and William aged abt 3 years and an half their children have lately intruded and came into the said Parish of Milton Abbas not having any legal Settlement there, and are likely to become chargeable to the same: We the said Justices, upon the Oath of the said Henry Daw and other circumstances, do adjudge the same to be true, and do also adjudge the last legal Settlement of the said Henry Daw, Ann his wife and Elizabeth, Joseph, Ann, Mary, Robert and William their children to be in the said Parish of Stratton. These are therefore to authorise and require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish Milton Abbas to remove and convey the said Henry Daw, Ann his wife and Elizabeth, Joseph, Ann, Mary, Robert and William their children from and out of your said Parish of Milton Abbas and them to deliver with this our Order, or a true Copy thereof, to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some or one of them, who are hereby required to receive and provide for them as their own Parishioners. Given under our Hands and Seals, this ninth Day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty One.
