Will of Sarah BROWN of Wareham, Dorset

This is the last Will and Testament of me Sarah BROWN of Wareham in the County of Dorset Widow made and published this twelfth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen as follows that is to say I give and devise unto my six Children Elizabeth David Christian Bernard John Thomas and Giles FFREELAND all that my one messuage and one yardland in Prinstead in the County of Sussex (lately Copyhold of inheritance but now enfranchised together with all commandage (?) and pasturage right and title of common lands) Tenements and heredits thereto belonging or therewith usually held occupied or enjoyed with their respective appurts to hold unto and to the use of them the said my six children Elizabeth David Christian Bernard John Thomas and Giles FFREELAND and their respective heirs and assigns for ever equally between them as tenants in common and not as joint tenants I give unto my two Children Elizabeth & Christian Bernard all my wearing apparel to be equally divided between them also I give unto my two Children David and John the sum of fifty pounds each


Also I give the several sums of one hundred and fifty pounds and seven hundred pounds to which I am entitled by virtue of my marriage articles and also all the residue and remainder of my estate and effects (subject to the payment of my just debts funeral expences and the charges of proving this my Will) unto and to the use of my four Children Elizabeth Dennis Christian Bernard Thomas and Giles FFREELAND and their respective heirs executors admors and assigns equally between them as tenants in common and not as joint tenants I give unto my two children Elizabeth & Christian Bernard all my wearing apparel to be equally divided between them also I give my two children David and John the sum of fifty pounds each


Also I give the several Sums of one hundred and fifty pounds and seven hundred pounds to which I am entitled by virtue of my marriage articles and also all the residue and remainder of my estate and effects (subject to the payment of my just debts funeral expences and the charges of proving this my Will) unto and to the use of my four Children Elizabeth Christian Bernard Thomas and Giles FFREELAND and their respective heirs executors admors and assigns equally between them as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and I hereby direct that the legacies by me hereinbefore given shall be paid within one year after my decease with lawful interest thereon from the day of my death and that the same shall be considered as vested interests and in case of the death of either or any of my legatees before me to be transmissible to his her or their personal representative or representatives and lastly I hereby appoint my two Children Elizabeth and John joint Executors of this my Will In Testimony whereof I have hereto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the day and year first above written Sarah BROWN

I the within named Sarah BROWN do hereby make the following Codicil to my within written Will namely my daughter Christian Bernard being deceased I give all my wearing apparel to my daughter Elizabeth I revoke the legacy of fifty pounds given by my said Will to each of my sons Denis and John and instead I give unto each of them a sixth part or share of the several sums of one hundred and fifty pounds and seven hundred pounds and of the residue and remainder of my estate and effects respectively mentioned in my Will it being now my intention that with the exception of my wearing apparel all my real and personal estate shall be equally divided amongst my Children and the heirs and personal representatives of such of them as is or shall be deceased in six equal parts or shares as tenants in common and not as joint tenants

also I revoke the appointment of my daughter Elizabeth as Executrix to my Will and in her stead appoint my Son Dennis Executor thereof in conjunction with my son John I do hereby ratify and confirm my said Will and all the devises and bequests matters and things hereby contained and not hereby altered or revoked In Witness whereof I the said Sarah BROWN have hereto set my hand and seal this twenty third day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty two _ Sarah BROWN
