Northbrook Cemetery Burial Index
1856 - 2008

 K -  R

This index was prepared in 2008 by John Patrick and checked against an earlier index prepared by Martin Ayres. Names that were difficult to read in the burial registers have been verified using the G.R.O. death indexes and/or other sources. Where necessary, the plot numbers have been checked against the cemetery plans. A blank space in the index indicates that there was no information in that section of the register. It should be noted that only burial registers 1 and 5 gave the date of death in addition to the date of burial. In some cases the person buried had more given names than could be fitted into the index and these are shown as initials. Where the place of death was not in Swanage, the details given were in many cases too much to fit into the index and reference should be made to the register for full details. The ages given are in years unless shown as follows:
m = months, w = weeks, d = days, h = hours, min = minutes. If a * is found in the burial plot column, then there is more information in the register regarding the exact location of the burial. If a ? is found in the burial plot column, then there is a ? in the register. If the burial was just of an urn containing ashes, then (ashes) will be found in the description column. However, after about 1970, there were many burials where no ceremony was performed, and a considerable time had elapsed from the date of death until the date of burial. Although it is not mentioned in the register, it is probable that these were also ashes burials. Burials of persons unknown are indexed under U. There are no surnames beginning with X or Z.
