Note:- I have located the following article in the 'Hampshire Advertiser & Salisbury Guardian (Southampton, England), Saturday, April 29, 1843; Issue 1032' which appears to relate to his death " AT WINCHESTER , APRIL 29th 1843 - The following Inquests have been taken by Mr Todd during the present week - Died by visitation of God - A Stoney Cross, in the parish of Minstead, on the body of William CHERRY, the coachman of the Southampton and Exeter Mail, who was killed by the upsetting of the coach, on the road between Ringwood and Stoney Cross, last Friday night, In consequence of the horses having taken fright at a cart which was overturned just before on the opposite side of the road. There were eight passengers besides the guard, but no one was seriously hurt except the deceased, who fell under the coach and was crushed to death upon the spot. He was a remarkably steady man, only 37 (39?) years of age, and has left a widow and several young children to lament his irreparable loss
Note:- The 1841 Census shows William CHERRY a Stage Coachman aged between 35 and 39 years of age (not born in Dorset), living on Glyde Path Hill in the parish of Holy Trinity Dorchester with his wife Mary CHERRY (aged 30/34) and children (1) William then aged 8; (2) Sarah then aged 6; (3) James then aged 4; and (4) Ellen then aged 2. Report in the Hampshire Advertiser & Salisbury Guardian (Southampton, England), Saturday, September 11, 1847; pg. 5; Issue 1256:-
The death of the Rev. George Wood. MA Rector of the Holy Trinity, Dorchester, with Frome Whitfield annexed, renders vacant that living, which is of the annual value of £450, and is in the patronage of the Trustees of the Free School and Almshouse in the town. The church is an elegant and commodius structure, rebuilt about 25 years ago, on the site of the old church, which had become a ruin. The Chancellor of the Diocese has appointed the Rev. T.R.MASKEW , Head Master of the Dorchester Grammer School, a Surrogate for granting Marriage Licences fro Dorchester and its vicenity, in the room of the late Rev. George WOOD.
Report in the Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle etc (Portsmouth, England), Saturday, September 18, 1847; Issue 2502
ECCLESIASTICAL INTELLIGENCE OF THE DIOCESE OF SALISBURY: At Dorchester on Tuesday last the six Trustees of the living of the Holy Trinity in that town held a meeting for the purpose of choosing a new Rector in the room of the Rev George WOOD deceased. The candidates were numerous; the contest however lay between the Rev Richard CUTLER, Curate of the Parish, and the Rev George ARDEN Rector of Winterborne Came each of whom having three votes, the electors separated without coming to a decision. -- Mr CUTLER has been a Curate in the Diocese thirty years and twenty two years Master of the Grammer School. Mr ARDEN is the son of the senior trustee, and was for many years a pupil at the school under Mr CUTLER. The value of the living appears by the return in the Clergy List to be £439 but there is no house for residence. It is a curious coincidence that a similar contest for the rectory took place on the death of the Rev Nathaniel TEMPLEMAN in 1813, between Mr RICHMAN who had held the School twenty three years and a near relative of several of the Electors. the presentation to the living remained on that occasion in abeyance for some months; but was at length unanimously given to Mr RICHMAN, befor eit lapsed into the hands of the Bishop.

1857

Please note the Dorchester Joint Burial Committee Report of 1852 which can be accessed from this link.
It orders the discontinuance of burials at All Saints; Holy Trinity and St Peters Churches in Dorchester
and also that of St Georges Church in Fordington with effect from 1st April 1855

Also on this site are records relating to burials at the new Civic Cemetery
but these only appear to start from January 1857 so implementation appears to have been with effect from that date
It should also be noted that some families owned burial plots and deaths after 1857 may still have been made in the church burial ground
